Like So
"Like So" features Jon on guitar, naturally, but the big surprises here are Jon's vocals, the songwriting, and the sound of a band that recalls the good old days of 60's rock yet manages to sound fresh and varied in its support of each of these 13 great original songs.
Great support is supplied by a no-nonsense, take-care-of-business band including Dennis Espantman on bass, Rob Morsberger on keyboards, Frank Pagano and Abe Speller on drums.
The songs tackle a wide range of topics, from the endearing, dysfunctional romance of "Rolling With the Punches" to the bittersweet tongue-in-cheek desperation of "Lie to Me"; from the poetic declaration of love of "Like So" to the twisted seduction of incest in "Like Your Sister"; from the arrogance of success in "Fauntleroy" to the gospel-leaning simple and solid gratefulness of "Only You Can Take Me There"; and from the sarcastic tale of experience ("Been There") to the innocence and hope in a father's love ("Beautiful Girl").
